Undicesimo album in studio dei Pink Floyd, The Wall fu pubblicato come doppio album il 30 novembre 1979.

Ha venduto 30 milioni di copie in tutto il mondo, di cui 11,5 milioni di copie negli USA. In Italia ha venduto 1,2 milioni di copie.

E’ un concept album incentrato sulla storia di Pink, un personaggio che a causa di una serie di traumi psicologici: morte del padre nella seconda guerra mondiale; madre iperprotettiva; maestri eccessivamente autoritari; tradimenti della moglie. Si costruisce un muro mentale. All’album nel 1982 seguì il film Pink Floyd The Wall, diretto da Alan Parker, con Bob Geldof nella parte di Pink.
