Pubblicato il 13 Maggio 1985 Brothers in Arms è il quinto album dei Dire Straits. Con oltre 35.000.000 di copie vendute è uno dei dischi di maggior successo nella storia della musica.

Tutte le canzoni sono scritte da Mark Knopfler, a parte Money for Nothing, scritta dallo stesso Knopfler insieme a Sting.

Money for nothing dal Gennaio 2011 in Canada non può più essere trasmessa in versione originale ma solo in versione “riveduta”. Questo per le proteste di un ascoltatore che si è sentito offeso dalla terza strofa, che recita:

See the little faggot with the earring and the makeup / Yeah buddy that’s his own hair / That little faggot got his own jet airplane / That little faggot he’s a millionaire.
